Default Grinding when I put Carryall in gear??

Hey Everyone,
Have a 2002 Club Car Carryall. It shifts in to reverse fine, but when I shift it in to forward, sometimes it will be hard to get in to forward gear and if I try to force it there will be a bad grinding noise. I circumvent the problem by turning the cart off, placing in forward gear, then starting it back up and driving. Is this some kind of adjustment problem?
Thanks,
Jerry

if it is a key start car which mean's it run's with your foot off the gas and doe's not shut off then it sound's like it is idled up to high. the driven clutch should not turn when at idle. or you have bad synchronizer ring's.

yes it is a key start. i will try and adjust the idle lower to see if that fixes the issue. is the adjustment on the carb?

If it's grinding than evidently things are turning in the gearhousing, you may solve it by using the a slightly heavier gear lube to offer just a little more resistance to freespinning, but first have you checked the lube level?
