Best budget batteries?
I'm sure this topic has been beaten to death on here but all the info I see posted is a couple years old.
I'm in the market for some batteries for my 36 volt EZGO cart with stock everything. I will be adding a cheap lift kit and perhaps bigger tires to follow. It looks like I have $600-$700 for batteries. What's the best bang for the buck in my price range? I've called around and it looks like my options are Duracell (From Sams and Batteries plus), Interstate (208 amp hour is $590 for 6), Electro and Powertron all from local Golf Cart shops). Prices seem higher than they should be. I asked about Trojans from one shop I've already bought some parts from and he stated Trojans have declined in quality as they've removed about 4lbs of lead from their batteries in recent years. Is this true? Can anyone from SW Florida (Sarasota/Bradenton/Venice specifically) recommend a good place to buy from? Seems all the shops I talk to have a very limited selection and very biased opinions. |

Re: Best budget batteries?
Look into a set of PowerTron batteries. A local supplier is selling 6v sets for $525

Paid around $600.00 for my 6V Autocraft set and they work great. You can get them at an Advance Auto Parts Store. That's where I got my 2 Sets. Around $600.00 per set of 6 6V Batteries.

Re: Best budget batteries?
I found a shop in Ellenton that sells Trojans T-105's for $565 out the door, going there anyway on my way to Melbourne so I'm picking them up

Re: Best budget batteries?
Be sure to check amp hour rating and price. Simply price shopping full likely that you a low amp hour battery. Most manufacturers make several batteries with a wide range of amp hours. It's important that you get about 220 amp hours in year 6 V batteries. Lower rated batteries are okay for shorter runs in lower demands.
I have not heard anything to substantiate the rumor that Trojan battery company has removed 4 pounds of lead from any of their batteries. I can tell you that in the fight for the top-of-the-line crown batteries are a contender with 2 pounds more than Trojan in their top 6 V battery CR 225 |

Re: Best budget batteries?
I haven't found anyone in the area that sells Crown batteries, I'd get those if I could find them. I'm all for the best battery I can get for the buck and I'm not afraid to spend a bit. Seems all that's readily available around here is junk.
I'm driving 45 minutes to get to this place that carries the Trojans, guy was out of the shop today. I'm open to suggestions if anyone knows of a place to buy from in my area! |

Re: Best budget batteries?
The Powertron's are made by Trojan and are slightly lower AH than T-105's. I just purchased a set of T-105's from a shop in Nokomis, FL. I will PM you his name as I don't want to break any rules here. RAY

Don't worry, no site sponsors are shipping batteries.

Re: Best budget batteries?
Thanks bigstik40, the guy I found in Ellenton had a little lower price and was willing to deliver for free so I bought from him.
All the shops are about the same as far as parts go. I could really use some fender caps! |
