Re: Any New Ideas On Locking The Seat?
I'm thinking a couple of these on the rear of the seat panel would work well. Even just one in the middle would be enough to deter all bet the most industrious thief.
Modify or make a new swing arm so that it is long enough to go under the plastic seat surround. Modify the seat bottom to allow for placement of the lock and one should be in business. Since I have buckets and can easily access the seat board, I might just give this a try. As long as the shaft of the chosen lock is at least 1 inch long, it should be fine. For just a dollar more, one can purchase a lock with a 1 1/8 inch long shaft. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Prime-Lin...6?N=5yc1vZc865 |

Re: Any New Ideas On Locking The Seat?
We have this issue at our lake place and we just run cables around the seat handles and seat back supports.. Real PITA.. Thinking of welding a piece shaped similar to an L that padlocks to the rear seat bracket, comes out over the seat and down to the floor. Put a couple of fingers on it to keep it from twisting. They can still cut the padlock if they can get to it but at least slow them down..

Re: Any New Ideas On Locking The Seat?
I bought the components for a mock up but I have too many irons in the fire. A new XCT controller release from Alltrax has just taken all my time lately, installing, testing, writing instructions.
I was interested in the 12v lock idea. They are small and 1/2" throw is about all you can get so I thought 2 were needed. It's just a matter of proper placement to catch the body with a 1/2" throw and still have clearance to lift the seat (1/8") min. I got parts, I just haven't found the time. |

Re: Any New Ideas On Locking The Seat?
So let me see if I have this about right. I did all the work to find a solution to a problem that no one else seems to have ever done, and because I didn't give you the schematics or a video disclosing what I used or how I used it you think it's crap. Awesome. You must be the best business people in the world.
However seeing as I don't plan on pursuing it any further, for the rest of you who didn't talk about how crappy it was, PM and I'll show you what you need and how to do it. Just remember that if someone is intent on stealing something, there is no sure fire way to fully lock down a cart made of plastic. The method I used was simple and relatively inexpensive. I think you'd be better off with a battery disconnect switch like those used on race cars that are keyed. |
