Default New F/R switch now a no go

1984 ezgo 36 volt

2nd switch in 3 months last one burned bad sent it back to Scotty he said it may be a bad cable or a motor issue.

I put the new switch in last night wired the same way as old one now i am not getting any voltage to driver forward or reverse

The switch is showing voltage at the bottom term which is tied directly to batteries.

not sure what to test next?

also what do the limit switches in the front of this board do?

Thanks for any help you all can give me

Is this a standard F/R, or heavy duty?

EZ585E indicates early Marathon prior to 1987.
One micro switch would be triggered in F&R position. This ms would trigger the solenoid and provide power to the drive system.
Other ms would trigger the reverse beeper if you have one.

i fixed the problem i didn't have the micro switch wired correctly so i replaced and wired back everything per that diagram in your post.

I drove it just for a few minutes no heat issues like you mention to check. How long of a test drive should i do?

Also the red wire going from accelerator switch to solenoid is the only one that did jump in temperature is this normal?

also i did wire the beeper you gave me with the f/r switch it didn't work? not really to concerned about that i just don't want to burn up another 200 dollar switch.

Thanks for your help

The beeper is polarity sensitive. It should have + and - 36v at the 2 terminals when the F&R is in reverse. Swap the + and - wiring.
