I have tried this method before on a yamaha cart that was doing same thing and didnt notice any different in rpm using ether. After finally listening to a factory yamaha mechanic , I replaced the complete air box and cart run great with out choke. Not saying this is whats wrong with your cart but ether may not tell truth about airbox.

It was either a totaly clogged fuel filter, which is doubtfull, or,,, what Block said; "an air leak"!!

Fun ta reread tho!!
