Looking for advice replacing a TXT with a Precedent
I currently own an older and well used TXT. It's 36v electric. It's time to put some money in this cart so I'm considering just replacing it with a newer one in better condition.
There are a lot of precedents for sale around me. I'm supposed to be going to look at one this week. My intended use will be solely on road for hauling my wife and kids around a marina. Speed is not really a concern either. Reliability is really the only concern. I need lights and a back seat as well. Being new to golf carts I'm not familiar with all the advantages and disadvantages of the different models. If I were to purchase a Precedent, what in particular should I be looking for? Any pros or cons of the Precedent for my intended use? Thanks in advance. I posted a similar thread over in the TXT section but I'm looking for more specific information about the Precedent and I'm hoping you guys can help me out. Thanks! |

Re: Looking for advice replacing a TXT with a Precadent
I love the two I have and they ride really well, what I'd do in your case post the cart you're looking at, get the year and post that with the asking price, also get the year of the batteries last replaced.

My wife dislikes the stiff way her Precedent steers and rides This coming horse show she has requested her old TXT over the new CC. Glad I spent the money to get her a new cart - not.

When I first got my cart the steering was stiff. After lubing everything real good and using it the first 6 months or so, it's almost like power steering compared to what it was. Easy to stear now. FWIW

Re: Looking for advice replacing a TXT with a Precedent
I've had a few Precendent's and to be frank, I didn't like them. The front ends are VERY fragile-hit a curb and you're in trouble. I had trouble with all of them in the pedal area-I think it's called the MCOR. I didn't like that at all. Too bad, they're cute and good looking carts but I think they still have to do a bit of QC improvement on them. I'm a DS guy thru & thru, so my opinion may be a little biased.

Re: Looking for advice replacing a TXT with a Precedent
I have one of each. I love them both. However, I think the CC gets the edge because of upgrade potential. If you are keeping yours stock, I think it comes down taste. If you are adding seating for 4, you may end up needing more torque. For that reason, the 48 volts of the CC combined with controller options puts you in a better position to add some cheap amps without dropping speed. Ie. Speed code 5.

Re: Looking for advice replacing a TXT with a Precedent
Well, I've switched over to the Club Car side. My precedent is sitting in my garage now and it looks like my old TXT is going to my brother in law.
I'll post some pictures so you guys can tell me what I bought. |
