Wont turn left and now wont turn right

Hi All,

I have an EZGO golf cart.... model # is 1033407, Model G2997. I beleive that means it is a 1997 model. Anyway, about 1 year ago when i would turn to the left, it would skip and I would have to turn the steering wheel a few times for it to finally turn left. Eventually, it stopped turning left but now this week, it is starting to do the same thing when I turn to the right.

I assume this is something related to the steering gear kit that I can buy on ebay for 140$? This is the link that I am talking about.

This seems a lot of money for only one metal rod and a couple of small other things. But is this what I need? Also how do I change this? Any instructions or diagrams available here that can show me what to do?

The alternative to not fixing the steering is hitting something when you're trying to turn.

Instructions to do this are plentiful, but it is a little more than to it than "one metal rod and a couple of small other things".
If you look at our sponsor's site East Coast Custom Carts you will find a maint manual that will help.
The rack and pinion steering gear replacement is Section G.

I believe there's nothing LEFT to do but order the part!

It might be a good thing that this happened before something really serious happened with a lack of ability to steer.

a rack is only $35 thats what it sounds like, may replace the pinion too while your at it and be done with the steering problem

Wow, that's nuts. So how long where you driving it around only being able to turn to the right? Also when you wanted to go left did you stop, cut right and back up till you got lined up or just go around in a circle till you came to the direction you wanted to go?
You should pull it apart to see what all you need, that way you can get all the parts at the same time, you might need something not supplied in the kit.
