Re: switched 12volt power
the best way to do it is to bring power (and ground) directly from the battery to the keyswitch area and then install a relay that hooks to the 12v hot lead on the keyswitch.
The keyswitch also has 12v power, but I still reccommend using a seperate power direct from the battery w/the relay for safety. |

Re: switched 12volt power
what does the radio have on it wire wise?
some have a positive, negative, and switch to run to a switched power to turn the radio on and off with the key. you basically will just run a positive and negative directly to the battery, then run the on/off wire to the key on side of the keyswitch. |

Re: switched 12volt power
Why complicate it ? Your radio does not require a relay, just an inline fuse from the battery positive to the head unit. Another fuse may be required if the radio has a constant power requirement to keep the stations, time etc memorised (usually a yellow wire). Finally, you don't need to run a ground wire from the battery to the radio, the whole frame of the cart is a ground, just hook your ground wire to any suitable point on the frame within usable proximity of the head unit. Finally, (unless you are in the habit of turning the ignition off when you park the cart up) there is little point in switching the thing through the key but if you are, I would find a switched live off the key switch to avoid running the battery down and simply run an inline fuse from there to the radio.
