Confusing wiring diagrams
Re. Fireworks on July 5th.
Got the used AXE4844, White Rogers solenoid. 250 ohm 10watt resistor, CNN 250, and the usb to rs232 converter in the mail today. Started trying to compare the EZgo wiring diagram I downloaded off this site to the Alltrax diagram. My cart is wired as per the ezgo print, and the Alltrax is entirely different. After calling Alltrax twice, I guess I'll rewire according to their print. They tell me that the A1-A2 & S1-S2 on the motor are not polarity conscious and the worst that could happen is the FR switch would operate in reverse. I'll take my time and see what happens. Any of you guys have this problem? Also the P/O had a diode in series with the charge resistor, that ties across the heavy solenoid poles. Any reason for this? |

Re: Confusing wiring diagrams
There's more than one way to wire the FNR and motor on a series cart. I'd wire like Alltrax shows.
I'm not sure what you mean by, "Also the P/O had a diode in series with the charge resistor, that ties across the heavy solenoid poles." I don't know what "P/O" is, but the resistor should be across the large posts and the diode across the small posts. Resistor has no polarity, but the diode does. |

Gocha.
Here's the wiring diagram I used. Starting from the charger port, labeled Charger, my reed switch was already bypassed, labeled Interlock. Following the wire labeled Logic Power, I didn't install the fuse or the diode. Everything else remained unchanged. The only thing different on the wiring diagram is the 4855 doesn't have A2, so motor A2 goes straight to FNR C. |

Re: Confusing wiring diagrams
gotter dun! Got the Alltrex installed, and everything rewired like the Alltrex print. Took one tour around the yard, but rain is imminent, so will test again tomorrow. Don't see much improvement, except 1/2 speed reverse is way too slow.

Re: Confusing wiring diagrams
You can disable the 1/2 speed reverse through the Alltrax software. As to performance, a controller upgrade on a series system won't increase your speed. It will have noticeably improved acceleration and won't slow down as much on hills. If you've upgraded the FNR, cables and solenoid, you can now increase speed with larger tires, and/or upgrading to 48 volts, and/or, adding a speed motor, and/or changing the rear end gears. The upgraded controller will now support any combination of the above.

Re: Confusing wiring diagrams
Been out half the day spraying weeds in the fence rows. WOW! This thing is so much better it's hard to believe. Don't know if it's the controller, the cables or the solenoid, but I'm sure pleased. Haven't had it in the soft stuff yet, that's next!

Re: Confusing wiring diagrams
Assuming you had a 275 amp controller, 400 amps is where you really see the difference in performance. Bigger cables, HD FNR, and HD solenoid are mainly required to support the higher amperage.
