Default 99 EZGO 36v To Predator 670

After my wife grenaded the 23 vanguard I decided to completely re-do the cart. It started out as a99 electric right off the golf course. After doing a 48 volt conversion and fooling with issues keeping it charged while camping I decided to upgrade. At the time in 2010 nice gas carts were $3,500 so I decided to just upgrade mine with a CPP 23hp kit. Had to source an me29 rear and a gas tank and pretty much everything else was in the BB kit.

I now have the Vanguard out and the 43hp Performance1 motor from Performance 670 installed. I’m now installing a complete double take titan body kit so I think I’ll end up with a pretty nice ride.

Wow! I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Perfromance670 predator vs the Vannny you replaced it with and how you'd compare the two.

Here is a before pic and a pic of the dyno sheet on the new motor.

I only have 10 minutes of run time on the predator but there is no comparison between the two. The vanguard had the stock carb, upgraded cam and rev kit, and stock bottom end. I never was able to get the Vanny to idle smoothly and consistently and had heard the epa carbs just are not very good for a golf cart application. That said I got 280 run time hours on it revving to 5,000 a bunch before a rod let go.

The predator has billet rods, huge cam, 32mm mikuni carb, ported and milled heads and is pretty much just a wild engine. It starts in an instant, idles at 780 rpm and runs great. It still has the stock flywheel which I should have replaced with the billet aluminum one Zach at Performance 670 sells, since I have the alternator kit on this engine as well.

Great looking cart. What lift do you have on it?

Thanks, I almost left off the flares because I really didnt want to drill a bunch of holes in the new body but I think it will really cut down on the spray from tires in the wet.

The lift kit is a jakes long travel I bought used around 2008 which I just replaced the old motorcycle shocks that originally came on them with their upgraded coilovers. I have the lift set on the second hole from the top on inside. The rear lift is just a 4" lift block kit.

That is some cart. I have kept an eye on what performance 670 has to offer. They seem to be the main supplier of speed equipment for that engine. Is that a Vegascarts header or is there another source ? It kind of amazes me how few people here put billet rods in their vanguards when so many of the lawn mower racers tell the tale of losing an engine due to rod failure.
