Re: does anyone else make a cage like the Jakes Baja kit
I'm guessing that it was a beefed up overhead brush guard. Not much roll over protection if it's just bolted on...

Depends on how and with what it's bolted. I'd also question the material thickness. If it's thick enough to be a strong cage, it'll be heavy enough to hurt all aspects of performance.

Ezgo made one for its 2020 4x4 express. Not quite the same but similar.

I wonder if that is the same cage? I heard somewhere that Tectron bought Jakes.
anyone know if the frames are the same and if it would bolt up? |

I’m thinking it is the same frame but can’t say 100%
If you go here https://www.countrycat.com/arctic-cat-parts# and search for 10004908 you can see the parts list. Could always just build one. |

Re: does anyone else make a cage like the Jakes Baja kit
I wish they made something like that for my DS, as of right now, I just use the roof that's my roll bar, and just replace the struts each time I have a roll over,( I'm the only one out of all my friends that has a rollover while going backwards!!) Since 2011 i have had about 7 or 8 roll overs, most were at low speed, and most were just on its side. The high speed crash came before before i installed the Jake's long travel kit. I had an allsport 7.5" a arm lift kit that did not like 35mph, that particular night I was experiencing death wobble at about 25-30 mph, with five people on the cart, then out of nowhere the cart made a left turn pitched every one of us off the cart.
As fast as we were going I'm very surprised that nobody was hurt, most of us we're just in shock it happen so fast!! where I am going with this, is the roof saved a lot of people from getting hurt, yes I had to replace the struts cuz they were bent all to h%ll..... that would really suck, if the Baja kit where made from thin aluminum pipe and something like a roll over do it in.... if that Baja kit, is just for looks and everything is good!!! Cold air? How do you post pictures like that, that is so cool not having to click on a box to view a picture!! |

Re: does anyone else make a cage like the Jakes Baja kit
For a REAL roll cage, I was going to suggest Grizzly Metal Works (they used to be a site sponsor here) but after looking at their site I couldn't find any pics of the various golf cart cage they used to sell. They had some awesome setups and could integrate the cage into a front basket and rear seat bench. I think member DaveTM still has one on his EZGO so you could ask him about the quality.
Their website does say to call to ask about special orders, so maybe they still sell cage for golf carts even though they're not advertised. |
