yamaha g1 wiring issue
i have a yamaha g1, not sure of the year. i am trying to hook up an electric fuel pump. i was going to connect the ground when the pump started the second i connected it, (withought the key being on). where would be a good spot to ground the fuel pump so it will only run when i turn the key on and give it gas?

Re: yamaha g1 wiring issue
Not really sure why you would want an electric fuel pump. You will gave to make sure that you have a really good adjustable regulator so that you dont bliw out the carb. If you need a fuel pump... I have several and can sell you one.

Re: yamaha g1 wiring issue
As far as the ground goes you need to take it straight to the batt. The hot should be switched not the ground...As far as where you need to find a wire off key that becomes hot in forward and rev.... Good luck

skarp-
i am putting an electric fuel pump in because my crankshaft seals are bad. i called the Yamaha dealer and they told me to not bother replacing the seals and just put a low psi fuel pump for carberaturs on. if you have any suggestions im all ears open. how much are you willing to sell a fuel pump for? |

Re: yamaha g1 wiring issue
Why would you NOT just put new seals on it...People here would help any way they could... Fix it right and you'll be glad you did...

Re: yamaha g1 wiring issue
I agree with Todd.... The seals r only $25 for both. I am notbsure you would be able to get low enough pressure w/ electric pump.

Re: yamaha g1 wiring issue
Also find a new dealer, sooner or later the leaking seals will cause a
piston melt down. |

Re: yamaha g1 wiring issue
This was my first concern when you said bad seals. Are you entirely sure you have a bad fuel pump? There are others here more knowledgeable than me to help you diagnose that.
Take a little time and fix it right. You'll get much better service and longer life out of your cart. Trying to half-azz it will certainly cause you more grief down the road. Just my .02 worth. |

Re: yamaha g1 wiring issue
We need a sticky telling that dealers name so no one else listens to that "BULL"! That is insane advice.
