No power on a stock cart.....

I would look at valve clearance
engine compression
drive clutch and the driven clutch

Look at it like this, Your cart was 9HP 17 years ago. With average use it would be a miracle if it still put out 7 HP. With 350 lbs 7 hp and a steep hill, You sure you aren't asking alot. Do your friends carts make these hills? A stock cart in good running condition should climb just about anything. But 17 years of neglect can zap up alot of power.

Good news and bad news. The good news is there may not be anything wrong with it at all. The bad news is that you can't expect it to pull hills like a 4 wheeler or sideXside....just not gonna happen unless you start modifying the cart. Sounds normal to me because of the weight but check the things Tom suggested anyhow. Maybe you'll find something wrong.

pizzamaker, what do you mean "all this" I was asking a question, I thought you understood this

Tom, I understand the HP is less and I dont have anyone else that tried this hill. Does this clutch shift down when it gets to a hill or is there a way to force it to shift down ??

I just figured it should pull it but maybe im asking too much

get within 100' of hill and stop. Now drive very slowly up to hill just 1 or 2 mph and stop at bottom of hill. Lift seat and check how far down inside the rear pully the belt is. If its at the top try and go up hill if it wont go your motor is tired. If belt is not at the top somethings wrong with driven clutch.

How big, steep of a hill is it? Someone probably already asked this, but I'm lazy and don' wanna look at all the posts....

Have you tried going up the hill with less weight?
