Did a muffler bbq and had an interesting time with it. Muffler weighed 25lbs before cooking and now weighs in at 18lbs. Cooked it for like 8 or so hours and it was cherry red and stopped smoking so I thought I was done, lol. When I picked it up after cooling I could hear all sorts of stuff ratteling around like the kids put rocks down the hole or something. I decided to try and back flush it with water and that was a mistake as I had a hell of a time getting the water out so back in the fire it went. Once red then cooled again I tried to get the junk out of it to no avail and decided my best course of action was to cut the s o b open. As I took the grinder to my mint dare I say priceless j17 exhaust I pondered for a moment with another beer then pulled the trigger. I cut both end caps off and they were packed solid with burned up carbon that resembled moon rocks. I beat and banged while flipping it over for at least three more hours over the next day and a half and got 95% of it all out. I couldnt bring my self to totally cut it apart as I had no idea where all the baffels and such were on this goofy j17. Welded it up and its good as new now no more smoke screen when we go down the road. Of course im now running a different pipe so theres that.

I'm learning a lot already! I've never heard of a muffler BBQ until now. It makes a tone of sense though. Firewood vs. a new muffler. I'm in. Will probably do it down the road.
When I saw the caption, I was afraid maybe there was an issue that caused the exhaust to catch the cart on fire...silly me.

So, how was the G1 running before cooking the muffler? What was it doing?

If you want to have some real fun, let it soak filled with kerosene for a few days, drain it then set her a blaze. It's a whistling flame thrower!

I know #34 is an old post but After looking at this for a bit, I don't think this is a stock pipe. The stock pipes ends are convex or rounded like a beer belly on the ends. this pipe has "caps" weled on the end, yes I know he cut it open and rewelded it.

Keep in mind, there is more than one OEM G1 muffler.
