Default 2000 EZGO TXT NPX4844 controller lights

Hey All,
Long time watcher of BGW, finally setup an account. You all are some smart helpful people, so I was hoping for some guidance. I have a 2000 TXT 36v cart that was rescued off the neighbors property. I immediately had new batteries and FR switch put in and the motor cleaned and tested, and the cart ran well. A couple weeks in I started having intermediate loss of throttle while driving. Shop said the solenoid was bad even tho there was an audible click, replaced, and it ran long enough for me to pay the guy, but then stopped working again. I replaced the ITS, probs didn't need to, but it was 30$ on Amazon, and I'm already 2k$ in so why not. Anyways, when there is no throttle response, the NPX4844 lights up x4 green flashes, no orange with full throttle. When it runs, full throttle shows x4 green flashes and solid orange. To me it sounds like the circuit makes it to the controller in both cases (throttle vs none). I cleaned terminals and bench tested the motor with 12v crossover test, seems fine. What else can I check? Is it reasonable that my controller could be shot? Thanks -Atom

Lift rear tires off ground and put on jack stands.

Measure the voltage between the black and white wires at the controller with the wires connected.

Should be 10V with pedal pushed just far enough to make solenoid click and 6V when pedal is on floor.

If you get that when cart is misbehaving, the controller is bad.

If you don't, find the in-line connector at the end of the gray cable coming out of the pedal box under the floor and replace the connector with individual butt splices or solder joints.

Hey Thanks JohnnieB!
So I took the cart out for a ride, made it 2 blocks and I braked and heard a "clunk" from the back right-ish area and immediately lost throttle response. Tested the black and white wires (4 wire pigtail on the controller) got the 10v/6v reading with half and full throttle. Towed it back, put it on jack stands and its responsive again. The new variable is that clunk, and that my left rear wheel puts out what seems like 100% power, while the right rear barely spins. I didn't notice that before when I did the 12v crossover motor test. ...and when I spun the right wheel, the left moved in the opposite direction like it was stuck for a few turns.

Any advice on what to do next?

It is an open differential, so that is the way the tires spin when they are off the ground. The differential is working normally.

The clunk might be the solenoid. Verify you have pack voltage on the small terminal with red wires on it when cart is misbehaving.

Here is a schematic for a NPX4844-EZ controller with the solenoid activation circuit highlighted.

Thanks JohnnieB!
I will check that when it starts acting up again, after I had it on jackstands and throttle response resumed, I was able to cruise the neighborhood for a good 30 minutes without issue. I'll take it out again when it stops raining.
