charging issue 1996 ds gas
Can anyone give some advise.
I have a 1996 club car ds that is having a charging issue. When I got the cart running it is only registering around 9 volt across the battery. It does jump up to 11.5 when I rev it up. I believe the battery is bad but I'm concerned I could have another issue. The cart is at a weekend house so I would like to be fully prepared on what to check when I go back up. |

Get a new battery. It should never register 9. Make sure it's a car battery not a lawn mower.

 In some cases, it could be a bad battery... In some cases, it could be worn brushes in the Starter/Generator... In MOST cases it's a bad Voltage Regulator... Thanks guys having the battery checked. I think I will order a voltage reg.. was reading and it should around 14 at just before it hits rev limiter,i was not event close when I checked it. will let you know how it works out. but in you opinions if it was going higher when I was revving the stater/gen should be good.

The voltage regulators do go bad on these. But if you can raise 9 volts to 11 that means it's charging but the battery is bad

thank s I hope you are right. I think so also. dropped battery of at advanced. they said they had to charge it before they could call it bad. will they actually start if the voltage is low.
