gas club carryall
I need help. I acquried a gas club car that some one had been working on. The problem is the starter cranks the engine backwards. I have look at wiring diagram and it looks to be wired correctly. As a test I switched wires on starter f1 to f2 and the starter will crank in right direction and engine will run but generator wont charge i installed new regulator still no help. I put a new starter wired correctly as diagram showed and it cranks backwards. what am I missing. please help

Re: gas club carryall
What year is it? From 1984-1996 gas Club Cars came with counter-clockwise motors. From 1997-now all motors are clockwise motors. Maybe the cart has the wrong starter/gen.

Re: gas club carryall
I believe all the starter generators are the same. the difference is in the positive and ground wiring. the CCW and CW just have the positive and gorund wires switched on the F2 and A1 posts on the start gen.
Yellow wire on the DF post should provide 13+ volts back to the voltage regulator no mater which way the start/gen turns. |

Re: gas club carryall
OEM Club Car S/G's are directional... CCW for CCW engines, and CW for CW engines! and are not reversible,
they will reverse for starting, but won't charge opposite of their original design! Most aftermarket S/G's are bi-directional, (reversible) but are also available directional. |

Re: gas club carryall
I stand corrected. Just don't tell my carryall... i have an older start/gen on it running it with the wire reversed. and have no charging issues. I guess it is possible that it was an aftermarket but i dont think so.

Re: gas club carryall
I woke up WAY too early this morning, and 2nd guessed myself...
When I got an S/G for my buddies 94 DS 5 years ago, I had a choice of CCW or bi-directional. so I did some research, and this is to my understanding... #1012316 ~ 1984 to 1995 (Counter Clockwise) #1018377-01 ~ 1996 to 2006+ (Clockwise) Here's where I get confused... #1018294-01 and #1036785-02 are bi-directional, and work on all years! I don't know the dates CC started using the last two, but, I'm pretty sure the first two are rotation specific! (from what I've read) I don't mind being corrected, so please... feel free! (so I get it right the next time!) |
