How do my battery numbers look
Hi,
I'm new to this forum and new to the golf cart world. Thanks for all of the info posted on this site, it has helped a lot already. I recently bought a 2012 Yamaha YDRE 48v. It has 6- 8v Trojan batteries from 2015. I don't know if my batteries are getting old and worn out or maybe they are still ok and it doesn't get the mileage it should due to the lift and tires. It has a 6" lift with 23" tires. I left the charger on until the charger shut off. The charger is showing 52v going into the batteries. After turning the charger off and letting the batteries sit, unused for 24 hours, they are reading 51.5v. The individual batteries are reading 8.48 - 8.52v. I tested all of the cells individually with a hydrometer in 40 degree weather. About half of the cells read around 1.235 and the other half of the cells tested between 1.250- 1.255. Driving around in the back yard, Ill get about 7 miles and on the road, Ill get about 10 miles before my Ex ray speedometer starts flashing. I have it set to warn me when the voltage gets to 42v under load, which is what the manual recommended. How do these numbers look? I'm not too educated on batteries besides what I learned from everyone on this site. Thanks for any info, Chris |

Re: How do my battery numbers look
Nothing really wrong with those numbers at all, my batteries read quite similarly and were installed in 2014 and while they are still quite viable they simply dont have the strength they had the first couple of years...

Re: How do my battery numbers look
Thanks. Im hoping to get through the summer on these batteries. I just bought the Alltrax 500 amp controller, heavy duty solenoid, and I have a bunch of 1/0 cable laying around to use for the batteries. Hopefully this wont kill my batteries too fast

Re: How do my battery numbers look
Sounds like you have been taking good care of your batteries, keep them watered and on a charger when not in use and you should get several more years from them...

Re: How do my battery numbers look
When you get new batteries, your gonna be shocked at just how much performance "5 year old" batteries were hiding from you.
