Re: 2 Controllers gone, maybe battery
Anything grounded to an IQ frame is a nightmare waiting to happen.
Burning controllers up is not a good sign. Your motor is showing 1.9ohms across the field posts? It should have 0 resistance. Also the a1, and a2 should have 0 resistance. and a1, to f1 should have no continuity. The external motor tests is a way to confirm the motor is truly bad, and a way to "assume" the motor is good. Motors can pass the external test, and still be bad. |

Re: 2 Controllers gone, maybe battery
We removed the voltage reducer, and have the body off the frame, we actually have the controller off the frame also. We are still getting the short.

Re: 2 Controllers gone, maybe battery
Did you swap the batteries out like you said you had previously done?

Yes,
Problem has moved with the batteries. We are going to replace 2 of them. |

Re: 2 Controllers gone, maybe battery
Be sure and let us know what kind of batteries they are so we can avoid them like the plague.

Re: 2 Controllers gone, maybe battery
The batteries should never be connected to the frame. When I add accessories, I always tie directly to a couple of the 6 vdc batteries that are connected to each other in series to give me 12vdc. I also put an in-line fuse in the (+) feed to the accessory. Check to make sure the batteries are isolated. Sounds like you have a wire feeding from a battery to the frame, but, again, I would suggest you take it to a shop at this point to defray cost. Without seeing the cart, it is hard to tell what the problem might be. We can guess and speculate, but you need to be sure. You definitely don't want to stick another controller until you are certain you have resolved the power problem.
