1990 Marathon fixer-upper
I've never been a golfer and never imagined I would own a golf cart. I got a "gift" of a 1990 EZGO Marathon with no batteries. Kids drove me crazy wanting to drive it, so I bought the batteries (ouch) and managed to get it rolling. After the new wore off, they would let me tinker with it. I thought "hey, let's fix it up!"
All the credit to you guys. What an amazing resource buggiesgonewild has been! It was actually a great pleasure to work on this thing. Everything is 1/2" or a 9/16ths" LOL. Reminded me of the good old days. The Marathon, I thought, was an exceptionally well-built machine. I mostly just repainted the parts. Did spend some money on the wheels, a steering wheel, stuff like that. I learned some things along they way that I think may be of some interest to y'all. Happy to answer questions, and I hope you'll allow me to make a few suggestions I learned along the way. Before: After: |

Re: 1990 Marathon fixer-upper
Just a few notes:
1 1st, I have to shout out to Up To Par Seat Covers. OUTSTANDING QUALITY! They look fantastic, and incredibly affordable, and are just the bomb. For real, my wife and I were looking for things around the house that we could get covers for from them. 2. I saw any number of threads and responses regarding fender flairs for a Marathon. I bought the ones for a TXT. I put three small cuts in the curve and they straighten out easily and fit wonderfully, I think. Very easy to install. 3. The "white letter" tires: I just colored in the raised portions with a white oil-based paint sharpie. 3 bucks. Done. It's tough stuff, too. Hasn't flinched to come off, or rub off, or anything. |
