Well, the batteries that were removed SUUUUCCCCKKKKEEEDDDD... so, I can all but guarantee that this cart has been run with VEEERRRYY low batteries. Thanks for all the input everyone!

i had the exact same problem with my 89 marathon and after i replaced my solenoid and activation switch, it ran like new again. coincidentally enough, it happened after i replaced 3 old batteries.

Well I got the solenoid today. Got it installed and cautiously tapped the battery lead to the battery. Nothing!! Sweet. Long story short, it seems my problem is just a memory. Thanks for all the help here!
