Runs slow about 5 feet then stops
I have a 1996 36 volt dcs cart. Last fall it quit working and I found the controller was melted on the top so I replaced the controller and while doing that had the electric motor rebuilt. I finally got around to putting it all back together and now it will run in forward or reverse for a few seconds and then it just dies. It wont start going again until i turn off the tow switch for a short time and then turn it back on. It will go a few seconds again but never gets to full speed. I am not sure if I hooked something back up incorrectly or if something else is bad given that my controller literally melted on the top right corner. Thanks for any suggestions.

you haven't had the cart running in almost a year? Have you been charging the batteries during that down time?

I kept them charged individually with a 6 volt charger. The batteries are about 2 years old.

Can you connect the voltmeter to the pack and give us the voltage reading standing and then running?

Standing the battery pack reads 38 and running(slow) it reads 37.2.
I never noticed before but I can hear the batteries bubbling as if the charger was connected and it is not. It seems like this should not be the case. |

Hearing the batteries 'gassing' is normal. did you say this was a series cart?

The controller is bad. In a DCS cart it is always controller failure. Was it new or rebuilt? Did you try to run it with the batteries low?

Re: Runs slow about 5 feet then stops
Any suggestions where I should get one. The one I put on i purchased "New" on ebay but if you think it is the controller that is bad then I want to make sure I get a good one. Any chance that it is the selenoid.
