Slows On Hills. Please help.
Hello. I have a 1997 36v series cart with older batteries. The batteries hold a charge for a decent amount of time, and the cart runs fine until it gets to a hill. It slows drastically. Any ideas as to what it could be? Thanks.

One thing is the 97 series stock cart..... noticeably slow on hills is the nature of the beast.
But Dramatically? Maybe you should connect a digital voltmeter to the battery pack mains and see how far the battery pack voltage is dropping when you hit the hill..... could be just one battery is giving up the ghost... |

Is there anything else that goes wrong with them that would cause this? How much should the battery voltage drop? Thanks for the replies.

Seriously? You want me to list everything that goes wrong on a 97 ezgo?
Okay your edit makes more sense.. A drop to say low 30s is acceptable... depending upon the hill and the battery state of charge. |

Yeah scotty's right, you need to load test the batteries individually. Alot of times batteries will test fine until you put a load on them, and one weak battery in the pack will make a big difference on an incline. If your batteries are good, go to upgraded cables 2ga or 4ga, then start upgrading everything else. Most likely the batteries though.

I load tested the batteries individually. They are good. The pack voltage is 38.1. Maybe it is just the nature of the beast like scotty says. I will try 4 gauge cables.
I am also having a problem with the charger not turning off, would that be the board? Thanks for all of the help. |

Did you check each cable for a good connection? What year are the batteries?

The main reason carts slow drastically on hills is the batteries are bad. I'm just saying...... |
