Charger won`t fully Charge.
it`s been awhile since I`ve been on here, but when I tried to recharge the batteries on my 99 48 VOLT Club Car DS the other day it only got to five before the batteries started gurgling and leaked out some water. I thought the charger was supposed to go to zero then shut off. Could someone tell me what going on? Also, I`ve noticed if I touch the case of the charger while it`s plugged in I get a shock. I don`t know, but that doesn`t seem right?
PS: The Batteries are refurbished bought in April of last year. Thanks for any help in advance. |

Re: Charger won`t fully Charge.
The charger should start around 15 amps, then slowly go down to 0 amps from there...
So are you saying it starts at 5 amps? |

Re: Charger won`t fully Charge.
Hey, it finally dawned on me about the shocking problem. It was just static electricity
But I`m still not sure about the Charger. What it is, is that I usually recharge my cart when it get down to about 10 amps. But the charger will only go up to 5 amps before the batteries start gurgling and water starts to run out from under the filler caps. (I`ve only done that once.) So I don`t know if the Batteries are not any good or the charger`s not any good. I`ve been told by other people that was with me when I got the cart, the fella I got it from said he unplugged something on it, and that why it does that. I don`t remember that. But the only thing unplugged is some wires going to the top on the motor. Anyway, thanks for the help. |

Re: Charger won`t fully Charge.
ok .. ez way to check if charger is working .. take a volt meter and measure pack voltage .. then plug in charger and recheck voltage it should show an incress in voltage .. let it run till it shuts off and check pack voltage after 12hrs . it should be around 50.9v

Re: Charger won`t fully Charge.
I think I remember when I tried to charge the cart the first time after I got it and it would not go passed 5 Amps without boiling over, a Volt meter was put on it and I think it did read 50.9
Also I noticed that 48v Club car battery diagram Crash Test Dummy put and my batteries are not wired up different than the diagram. But it does crank and run. What could wiring the batteries up wrong cause? |

Re: Charger won`t fully Charge.
looks like someone wanted to shorten the cables but reading your diagram it is ok .. the 50.9 v is fully charged
