Default Re: Has anyone adjusted the side valve motor on a 1991

I had this same problem I my 87. Just figured it out yesterday. I had recently changed my spark plug and then this problem started happening. I had "spark" but it was just weak. So I put a new plug in, gapped at .30, and the engine took right off. Not sure if you've tried this or if it will even work but it's a cheap and easy solution.

I have a 1991 club car and Sounds like the same thing mine was doing. it was nothing above it was the rev limiter, if I jiggled the wires or hit it would fire up I'd stop the cart would never start again, I spent the 160 bucks on a new one 0 problems now... On another note when it's cranking make sure fuel is pumping into the filter and nothing is leaking from where the hose connects zip ties work wonders lol!

Good luck

Nick

His motor doesn't have a separate rev limiter on it. If it does have one it's built into the coil from what I've heard. I have a motor out of a 1990 Club Car that has the same coil on it, he's going to swap it out tonight to see if that fixes his issue.

Nick can you post up a link to the rev limiter your bought? I'd like to see what it looks like.

From the massive research I did when mine wouldn't start or start randomly it always came back to this rev limiter, it's mounted beside the starter generator

Thanks. I've never seen one of those limiters on any cart I've worked on. I have two KF82 motors out of two '90 Club Cars and they don't have that limiter, they have the same coil setup as my '87. Maybe it was a running change.
