96 club car ds questions
So I'm working on a 96 club car ds all stock for now. I have 3 things I need to do the 1st is my factory choke doesn't work and parts are missing so is there a carb I can get from something else to run a manual cable choke? 2nd question is how do I get rid of all the micro switches and get it to be started with the key and shut off with the key? The 3rd is kind of a 2nd part to #1 and #2 how can I run a regular throttle cable. I can fabricate and run a carb off a bike but a more direct or closer match to the factory would be easier. I think once I get those 3 figured out alot of the speed and performance stuff will be easier I don't really wanna mess with any of the governor stuff and if it's not a very good option I have a snowmobile motor laying here I can put to use thanks ahead of time

Re: 96 club car ds questions
I picked this cart up for $100 and threw a battery that was close to the same size that I got from the wrecking yard for $30 and it's a pain to start when cold and cranks slow at times so to choke it I just put it in service mode and squeeze the intake tube enough to choke it and warm it up that way then put it back and start in gear but I live out on a farm and it gets cold and I would like to be able to just idle or set it at half choke. It would probably start easier if I got rid of the original spark plug that's in it lol my steering is a little sloppy and the right side upper ball joint/king pin thing is about gone but that's another thread thanks

Re: 96 club car ds questions
I would think the parts to fix it right wouldn't be much.

Re: 96 club car ds questions
Yea but a manual cable choke and key start and stop with no micro switches will make everything so much easier

Re: 96 club car ds questions
With my 95 DS and a newly rebuilt 290- it is still a cold start. So I lift the seat and squeeze the hose between the carb and air box. Works like a charm.

Re: 96 club car ds questions
Yea that's what I have to do now but a manual butterfly choke on the carb with a regular cable would be nice I wonder if there's something u can put on it and rejet it to have a normal choke and a regular throttle cable from the peddle

Re: 96 club car ds questions
I was looking at a carb I had laying around today off something else and thinking if I could use the choke assembly out of it to put in my carb it has all the spots like it would have been drilled from the factory if it didn't have the goofy airbox stuff. Or I can make an intake and run the bike carb they were close in size as far as airflow just jetting will be quite a challenge cause these things are picky I forgot the air filter and it would barley run the airbox was hooked up still also. And can u adjust the valves on these motors I was gonna do a belt plug and see if I could adjust the valves to get it running better

Re: 96 club car ds questions
Is this not a very route often taken on the carts I would figure the more factory stuff you got off and quirky stuff removed stuff would be easier has anyone attempted this?

Its a common problem, Sounds like your on the right track. Let us know if you come up with a choke assembly that works.

Re: 96 club car ds questions
Do any of the newer carts have a built it choke that could possibly be swapped on an older motor? I have a new wood splitter I bought that has an 18hp briggs motor I'm gonna check and see what size it is the motor is a 310 cc so it could have enough cfm I will have to check bolt patterns and stuff I could make a manifold that I could use a regular carb from a dirt bike and a better quality carb like a mikuni I think would take alot more abuse than these stock ones I don't really plan on taking it easy with the cart and want it to be easy to work on and not a turd
