Default Does your cart bounce the rev limiter when going downhill?

I tried the zip tie method and it sped my cart up. But when I went down hill it, it hit the rev limiter. It backfired and shutoff. I don't want to do that again. I do have a tach on it. It has a 6" lift and 23" tires.

It did fine on flat and hills, but I guess the downhill let it keep the rpm going up to about 4,000.

It normally wasn't going over about 3500-3600rpm. I want to leave the rev limiter and gov. And just up my rpms by 500.

With no zip ties it runs 2800-3100, 3100 down hill.

How can I set the cart to where it just tops out at 3600? Just keep trying looser zip ties?

Unfortunately... Gravity can take it's toll and over-rev an engine!
If the pedal is floored, the drive belt will be locked in, tires go faster with gravity, and so will the engine RPM's!
and then the rev limiter will do it's job!

Cut and retry with new zip ties!

Ok, thanks for the help. Do you know about how many times you can bounce the limiter before you start accumulating damage to the engine?

It's a newly rebuilt engine and I want to take care of it. That was the first time it did it. Hopefully I'll avoid it. I'm topping out at 19mph with the big tires and no zip ties. I may just leave it alone.

Is your OCD kicking in again? (Just messin with ya'!)

It's not a good idea to "bounce off" the limiter! How many times? I don't know!
a few is acceptable... I've read where people do it all of the time!
It's just not a good idea!

Just don't hold it to the floor when going downhill. Watch your rpm's and back off when it gets a little too high
