92 Medalist Burns out Solenoids.
I am working on a 92 EZ Go for a friend, it is repeatedly burning out Solenoids ( factory continuous duty replacements, not automotive). It is burning out the control side,{Small terminals} it will run for about 20-50 presses of the throttle and then they burn out. The owner has been through three before contacting me. I am at a loss.
I have checked the wiring against this diagram and everything appears to be wired correctly. It looks like the regulator is working although the voltage at mid throttle seems a bit high at 15v What could possibly be causing the control side to burn out I am going to look carefully at all the grounds tonight. Could a weak ground cause this? |

I suspect you are on to something with the grounds.
I would pay special attention to the large lugs from the battery, engine, and frame. The voltage will follow the path of least resistance. It kind of sounds like the ground from the starter is being sent through the solenoid. It isn't big enough to handle the load. |

Re: 92 Medalist Burns out Solenoids.
I recently had a cart that burnt solenoid repeatedly I found that the wire from the solenoid to the starter had a bad spot in it and grounded out I replaced the wire and the solenoid and have not had a problem with that cart since
