82 Marathon Low Compression
82 Marathon with Robin 244 here. Compression is only 30 psi. Have fuel, spark, turns over, full charge on battery, replaced spark plug, gas is a little stale smell.. Only description i have is that it took about 30 minutes to fully die. Started out with a little trouble to get going .. then slowly yet consistently losing power while the exhaust ( or general engine area ) was getting much louder turning for normal to a puffing sort of noise.
Any help would be great. My cart is sitting dead right now. Please help. |

Re: 82 Marathon Low Compression
30 psi means that it's time for new rings, piston, and possibly even a new cylinder.
Rings at the very least. Oh, and since the engine has to come out, you may as well change the crankshaft seals too. |
