Very good point about primary oil pump there's been a few cases on here people didn't do it and were rebuilding a freshly rebuilt motor shortly after they just got done the easiest way I have found is put a vacuum on the oil passage at the head where the valve cover meets and turn motor over while sucking brings the oil up and don't have to deal with packing the pump with Grease

Tore the engine down this weekend. Took us roughly 5 hours from the time I unloaded the cart until we split the case. That includes going to get get a puller for the clutch and beer breaks. This issue is a rod seized to the crank so the next step is dropping everything at the machine shop to make sure the only thing needing done is polishing the crank. It was a learning experience I didn’t reallize these motors had synchronized stroke and not alternating like a typical engine. Now I know why they are low speed/HP

It’s always the connecting rod furthest from the oil pump that gets it.

My rod didn’t break it just seized up. Right now it’s at the machine shop waiting on the rebuild kit so the can bore the cylinders to match the piston. You are correct it was the furthest from the oil pump
