1977-78 ezgo robin motor
Can’t find a replacement carb, can I use one off an early 80’s?

The BV-18 carburetor was used from 76-87. Hope that helps.

This should be it. A little pricey!
https://www.golfcarcatalog.com/produ...d18-Carburetor Here's a rebuild kit for a BV-18. Scroll down the page, left hand column. https://www.golfcarttrader.com/Carbs_/Carburetors.htm |

Re: 1977-78 ezgo robin motor
Thanks guys, that helps! Now to figure out how the throttle cables run. Be chance do you guys have any pictures? When I bought this one it only had a metal wire to run the cable from the pedal to the carb. Seems like it over revs. There should be a governer on this correct?

Re: 1977-78 ezgo robin motor
These carburetors operate opposite of what is normal. They are spring loaded wide open.
The throttle cable holds the carburetor closed until you step on the pedal. As you step on the pedal, the cable gets longer. It slides through the slot on the throttle lever. Then the carburetor opens itself. Let me dig around. I know that there is a thread with a complete description with pictures. EDIT: Here it is. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-e...djustment.html Just about everybody gets rid of the governor. It limits you to 12 mph. Take it off, and get around 18 mph on stock size tires. Here's how it works. The secondary clutch moves in, and out. There is a lever mounted at the front of the clutch. The clutch pushes on that lever. That then pulls on another cable mounted to the carb lever. The cable pulls the carburetor closed, and maintains a max speed of 12 mph. My OPINION is that the governor is not worth having. I don't believe that anybody has ever over revved these 2 strokes by removing it. The 4 strokes are a different story. |
