PG3 Clutch Trouble Shooting
I have a 91 Marathon which I believe is the PG3. The muffler lays horizontal and both clutches face the drivers side. The belt runs parallel with the cart.
The problem I am having is the secondary or driven clutch doesn't seem to be opening up. The cart drives and runs fine but the speed is just slow. With the belt off the primary clutch will move in and out as RPM Changes. With the back end jacked up off the round and in forward the primary clutch will engage and start spinning the rear tires. The secondary clutch doesn't open up very much to allow the belt to ride farther down in to the clutch. It does a little but not much. It did open up a couple times and allow the belt to drop all the way in, but it took considerable more RPM than what you get while driving in order to do this. Its not consistent. With the cart in revers the clutches act pretty normal. As RPM builds the belt rides higher and lower in the clutches like it should. So which clutch is the issue. Is the primary clutch not pulling hard enough to force the rear clutch to open up. Or is the secondary clutch worn and not allowing the clutch to open up? Thanks for the help. I appreciate any advice I can get. josh |
