Re: Vent options for engine heat?
Got time Saturday evening to install the fan. If I remember right it is rated for over 200cfm. It blows a lot of air. Didn't have time to test it due to an out of town VFW meeting Sunday. Will let you know how well it works to cool down the engine compartment later in the week.

Re: Vent options for engine heat?
Be interesting to see how much of a difference it makes, as that’s a pretty good amount of air it moves. Are you worried about it getting wet and shorting out?
I found a 10x6 black HVAC return vent on Amazon, plan is to install it in the bag well, behind the extra battery that is mounted there. Don’t ever use the bag well since the battery is there, not much extra space, and have the rear seat over it, so it’s not that easy to access. Not sure if I will have time to do it before we leave for the beach. Hoping to get my new front and rear springs installed first, to get rid of the lean. |

Re: Vent options for engine heat?
The fan is certainly not designed for a wet environment. I don't spray water in the engine compartment but do wash it externally. My plan is to tape something over the fan grate when washing it and be careful not to blast water under the seat. If I err it won't be catastrophic. The fan was only $15 or $16. I couldn't find anything of a similar size that was designed to be water exposed like an automotive radiator fan.

Re: Vent options for engine heat?
Both my wife and I noticed a marked decrease in temperature in the engine compartment wafting up around the seat with the fan running. Very happy with the fan installation and results.

Re: Vent options for engine heat?
Rooster,
Did you wire the fan to key switch or toggle switch? I'm planning on putting a fan in the bag well. Since my kids use mine most of the time, I'm guessing the key switch is my best option. Another question for guys that have put a fan in the bag well, have you noticed any increase in exhaust fumes for the rear passengers? With the tailpipe being right there I was just wondering. |

Re: Vent options for engine heat?
Mine is on a toggle switch. All accessories are. I may use them while the engine is off too.
If you are going to put a fan in the bagwell set it up to draw air out toward the rear. If you are moving it should be drawing fresh air from under the cart. Don't know if you have a stock cart or big block conversion but exhaust should be routed out from under the body like a car. My strong opinion. Never liked the EZGO tailpipe exiting at the rear axle under the engine compartment. |

Re: Vent options for engine heat?
Thanks Rooster! I have a stock 350 muffler that dumps at the rear axle. I guess I need to look at running the tailpipe out and away from bagwell.

Re: Vent options for engine heat?
IF you experience complaints from passengers. Since your cart sounds stock you may not get complaints. The tailpipe outlet is below the axle and SHOULD allow engine exhaust to exit behind/under the cart without getting sucked up by the bagwell exhaust fan. Rear passenger heads are pretty far above the bagwell. If the fan is mounted vertically so the air pulled out of the engine compartment is exiting to the rear, rather than upward, I doubt you get any complaints. If they do complain ignore them. The exhaust will eventually make them quiet. :)
