AAH HAA *light bulb* Not maybe, I can say with confidence that IS your problem. If you look close at my pic you'll see the crack, I'll bet yours is the same......

I tried to temporarily repair this one by putting the ball back in and closed the crack with vice grips til I could get a new carb for her but it didn't help, So don't bother trying that.

I put on a new $22 cheapie carb and against her wishes by-passed the Gov, Dang thing is a bit quicker than mine now lol. After she drove it I told her about the Gov and she wouldn't let me connect it back up lol....Success!!

So I'm guessing I have the same carb, where do I find the part # and where do I search for one? I can't keep the thing running have to pull it apart every couple weeks and a quick shot of cleaner and it'll run for. A while Never any fuel in the bowl. Stranded me a block and a half away from home so I used some starting fluid to give it a quick jump. Shh don't tell anyone

Simply do a search for a carb of your make and model, A bunch will come up. Of course there's no guaranty it's going to cure your issue. But for $22ish it's a good start, Looks like you need to give the ole gal a bath too :)

I have to disagree- those Chinese carbs are GARBAGE. Clean your old one really well first.

I agree on the OEM carburetors but I have installed the aftermarket with pretty good success.

My customers just want cheap. :) These OEM's are becoming rare. I have saved about five or 6

Trig, are you tired of the slow performance, and poor throttle response?

If so, you should rig your throttle like this. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-e...djustment.html

Removing the governor cable will take you from 12 to 18 mph.
Adding a spring to the throttle cable will improve your low end control for slow cruising, and will prevent backfiring.

Removing the oiler, and premixing the gas will ensure that you will always have the right 128:1 mixture, and you will not have to worry about an oiler failure that is going to happen.

I would also suggest opening up the fuel pump for a good cleaning, and inspection.
