Default Re: My 2PG Rebuild with pics

Were the cam arms weighted the same for each engine? I couldn't see if the numbers are the same, It appears the springs are both yellow so the same strength. Are they the same length too? Just curious, I need to look into mine to compare if it's the same. If so then I must have the correct set up for a 2 cycle.

As always, Great job...Thanks

Hi Dabble. Yes, the cam arms are the same. Both sets labeled EZ-1 and both springs are yellow. I did not measure the springs because I was under the assumption that the springs are color coded to designate spring tension.

Both springs measure 4-1/16" long. Very soft spring.

I would think that they all may be the same length but different size wire to increase or decrease the amount of tension the spring exerts on the spider depending on driveline needs/operational characteristic desired.

If someone knows for sure, please set me straight. Thanks........

Yeah I think you're right with that, I bought a wireless test tach to check my engagement. Pretty dang cool little gadget too, Came with reflective tape squares ya stick on anything that revolves and simply point the laser/led light at it for a digital readout. Much better than the old test tachs that you had to hook up wires to 12v and spark plug then do the math for 2 or 4 cycle engines, And this thing can check the rpm on anything. I've checked my grinders, circ saws, drill press and even my recip saw for strokes per minute lol......

Anyway;

I'd have to check my notes now to be sure but IF I remember right I think it's engaging at around 900ish give or take a 100 or so lol, Yep not sure but I do remember thinking it's earlier than I expected for a 2 cycle
