Re: Damaged cylinder head
From the scratches on the pistons, my guess is something more than aluminum was present. There doesn’t look to be any trace of galling which usually shows to some extent when aluminum and aluminum are “rubbed” hard together. I’d likely clean the piston up ( lightly buff with scotch bright- type product) and so long as dimensions are good I’d use it. But that’s me -

Re: Damaged cylinder head
Something I learned recently.
When it's 25 oversized.... it really means "point twenty five mm"....so that's less than one thousandths of an inch. |

Looks like I will need some new tools as well. I do not have a micrometer or a telescoping gauge set. YET!!! LOL I'll be shopping today. [emoji16] Bet they aren't cheap. I'll be using the pistons as well, I'm waiting on a another crankcase to arrive, I've got a new set of rings for both pistons, crank seals and gasket kit, and a new head gasket. I'm ready to go! I'll be completely going by the manual this time. I won't skip steps this time. Thank you everyone. Always appreciate the advice. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk |

Re: Damaged cylinder head
JClark,
Math mistake duly noted. I had one too many zeros while transferring measurements. Don't want to mislead anyone trying to rebuild a motor , just know it was a challenge for me when trying to do this. Glad I did any happy that BGW was there to help me. |
