Re: MCI block Pre MCI head
Yes but the 2003+ gasket looks like it has the extra bolt hole like mine does. This is what’s got me confused

Re: MCI block Pre MCI head
I would be ordering parts for the Pre-MCI engine and not worry about it. The gasket will work
I own a 2005 ezgo workhorse and it has the Pre-MCI engine in it. I had an engine and the 2005 had a very large hole in block. I had to do a little wiring but no big deal . I had the older pre mci muffler also. I actually had a 1998 cart that had been wrecked. Get that thing running so you can ride |

Sounds good. The motor was running good till rod cap bolt backed out then broke cap. I ordered new rod new rings and valve seals. Parts should be here next week. Cylinders looked good to me. Probably polish the crank journals a little and put it back together

Re: MCI block Pre MCI head
You know in the picture of new gasket its not like my 2003 and 2002 I have torn apart. You might want to check with your buyer on this gasket. I got a Red Hawk gasket ( ENG-184 ) set in stock that is for 1991 to 2002 and it is correct. The one in the first picture you showed of seller is not like mine. I wouldn't worry too much about the website picture. I am betting you will get the right one.
I also showed just the gasket from Red-Hawk and it is the same as mine. Not sure where you are buying yours. I still think it will be right though |

Re: MCI block Pre MCI head
I would just install some rings being those cylinders look that good but that is me.

Re: MCI block Pre MCI head
Yeah that’s pretty much all I’m going to do. Ring gap was a little out of spec at .018 but new rings will hopefully fix that. It ran really good until the rod cap broke. Crank should clean up good no grooves or anything.

Re: MCI block Pre MCI head
Yes sir! Runs perfect. Even found another complete engine from flywheel to carb for $50 that had low compression. Pulled it apart had a broke ring. Went through it and now have a motor ready to drop in. Appreciate all your help.
