Default 98 gas ezgo txt won't roll over

Golf cart this spring started not starting. If you rolled over the starter pulley by hand it would take off then eventually no longer worked. I rebuilt the starter because brushes were to far worn to work and put new bearings in as well. Put back in cart and worked great for a month. Eventually it would not roll over the motor. When I took belt off it spun but didn't have power to roll motor over. I ordered a new starter and installed. As soon as I hooked battery up solenoid started buzzing. Turned key off then on and bussing stopped till I pushed on pedal and no power went to starter. Ordered a new solenoid and installed last night. Push on pedal and it sounds like a ball bouncing in solenoid and nothing happens. Any ideas please?

Do you have a good ground from the motor to the frame?

It's time to check battery voltage. 12.74 volts is a full standing charge.

Then do a load test. Step on the pedal and see how much the voltage drops. Normal is down to 11 volts. A drop down to 9.6 volts, or less is a failed load test.

Removed ground, wire brushed and added dielectric grease. Still the same result, ground is attached right behind the bracket for solenoid. Battery was 12.98 and dropped to 6.98 when pedal was pushed. If I put a battery charger on it and put it on boost, would that be enough to at least see if it will roll over before buying a battery?

You can try, but that battery is junk.

Jumper cables, and a car would also confirm it.

Thanks for all the help, greatly appreciated. I was just gun shy on buying a battery after buying a couple things I didn't need, starters not cheap. That was my own dumbassery, should of asked for help months ago.

Tried car charger on 100 amp jump start and hooking directly to running vehicle with jumper cables. Same noise from solenoid and no power going to starter. Any new thoughts? Led lights on golf cart go out when pedal is pressed.

Take the battery into any parts store and have it tested. Replace it if it is bad. And clean the terminals before you reinstall it.

Bad battery and/or bad connection or ground can cause what you describe, even if hooked up to a jumpstarter
