Rear axle inner seal keeps leaking 😠
I have a Ezgo with the 292cc engine. The rearend started leaking diff fluid on the ground the other day. Cleaned the rearend to see where it was coming from and looks to be coming from between the axle tube and the rear pumpkin on the driver side. I order new OEM inner seals and after putting everything back together it’s still leaking. I cleaned everything very well and was easy on the seal when installing. Has anyone else ran into this issue?

Re: Rear axle inner seal keeps leaking 😠
Dunno exactly what kind of seal is there, but sounds like an o-ring type or square cut?
Dana Axle tubes leak on jeeps all the time. The best fix is to drain it so fluid stops dripping, then clean the outside very thoroughly with brake cleaner, then Apply a bead of RTV sealant all the way around the tube where it mates to the housing. The Right Stuff and Permatex Ultra Black are two of the best for sealing surfaces that are exposed to oil. |
