I always remove the swingarm completely. It's difficult to crawl under there and work. Yes, the engine has to come off. It's not that bad really.

It's more of a pusher/squeezer...it worked well. Just keep tightening the nuts. I probably had to give the bushing some encouragement with a screwdriver. It was awhile ago.

Some soapy water will help the rubber bushing get started too. Just be sure to push the bushing in until equal amounts are sticking out both sides.
