Default G16 Governor Arm Cut Off??

I’m just about on rebuild the differential on my G16 and after closer look it appears I can’t find the governor arm on the differential. All I see on the outside of the case is in the picture below but not sure how I would keep tension on it to avoid the next Torrington bearing from destroying my gears again..

Here's the only photos of the G16 transaxle I can find on the net. You can see on the inside the governor fork. If it's all intact inside you'll prob be ok. If it were me I'd have to open it up and check it out. You can remove the internal governor parts so there's no issues.

Thanks guys yep it’s confirmed the prior owner cut the top off due to clearance issues with the bigger motor. I’m sure this is why the original Torrington bearing came loose and ruined the gears. Rebuilding and need to find a way to at least add a spring to keep tension on the next one so it doesn’t do it again..

Ok so I have the transaxle back together with ALL new gears, bearings, exc.. the last thing is the governor arm that was cut off. I drilled and tapped the top and inserted a thumb screw thats I was planning on hooking a spring to in order to just keep some pressure on the Torrington barring inside the transaxle. I can still do that but how important is that governor arm when it comes to moving? I’m assuming I can’t just tack weld it in place? Here is a pic of the arm and thumb screw. As you can see with the new engine there is not much clearance this the reason they cut it off flush with the transaxle.

When you rebuilt the trans, did you remove the governor parts?

I think on that one you just remove the shift fork looking device, leave the gear and bearing in place.

I would think that if you removed the governor fork and everything on the input shaft that is associated with it, it would be bulletproof. I have done none of this to any of mine.

I'm anxious to hear if anyone has done this. I have three carts that need the governor dealt with, all three are Vtwins. I just don't like running them at high speeds with that stuff in there. Someday they will just let go, ruining the trans.

I left the governor form which is on the other end of the rod in the transmission as it did not look like the governor pieces “two large washers and Torrington Bearing could be removed from the input shaft..

1st photo is the empty Torrington bearing housing. This is the old input shaft and all the bearings came out

2nd is what I would assume is the governor items to remove if possible

3rd the end of the input shaft. It does not look like it can be disassembled... I have the old trashed shaft to play with if anyone has an idea. I agree removing all the governor items off shaft would be best or at least the Torrington bearing but no idea how to accomplish that.
