Default St350 workhorse year Ignitor CDI box??

Ive got a ST350 Camo Workhorse serial 1361813 G401 that runs fine for about 5-10 minutes and then starts missing, back firing and eventually itll stop running completely. let it sit for few and it runs fine again

Ive been through the carb, run the valves, swapped fuel. I went replace the ignition cdi box and it appears to be the one for 2004 and newer. The one I bought for it thinking it was an 2001 model is different with 2 mounting hole and an extra orange wire.

Can someone please confirm my year model or confirm its the right cdi box. And if it is right where should the orange wire go?

It looks like the coil is the newer style too with the spark plug wires on the top.

If your engine has the cast iron bolt on exhaust manifold it is the older pre mci but if it has the aluminum exhaust "outlet" which is cast as part of the cylinder head it is the newer mci engine. The mci engine coil has a double wire ignition plug that plugs into the bottom of the coil & the older pre mci coil has 2 individual wires (red wire & white wire) that plug into the top of the coil.

Usually I would suspect either the coil or ignitor. Are you sure you swapped the ignitor out with the correct one?

Further digging looks like the engine was replaced with one built in 2007 or 2008. If the pics dont appear below Check out my "My Carts" page for the pics.
