2017 Drive 2 -Question on wiring and power
Good day all, just purchased a 2017 carb based Yamaha Drive 2.
It has headlights that are wired via harness to the battery. My question is this, what is the best way to hook up multiple items to the battery? I would like to add USB and power ports to the dash, as well as a 2nd set of LED lights. and possibly a horn. Is there a fuse box type setup I should look into, or just run all the wires back to the battery? Also, since this is a gas powered motor with a single battery, what load can I expect to run off the cart realistically? I am sure there is a certain level to charge sent to the battery when the engine is running. Thanks for any input, golf car noobie. |

Re: 2017 Drive 2 -Question on wiring and power
LEDs & horn isnt too much to ask at all of the stock charging system. Just go to the battery & add a fuse inline with your new wiring. As far as capacity, it can run a car stereo just fine, but probably not a big amp & huge subs. Its "official rating" is something like 15 amps. While I know it can do more than that, let's keep things realistic here. Keep in mind, it doesnt charge all the time, only when you are driving at speeds above "creeping around". Doesnt work like a typical automobile that charges at all speeds including idle speed.
