Bought a Yamaha golf cart with ezgo pds motor
Hello all,
I have a Yamaha Golf cart I bought last week. Does fine on flat ground but it’s cutting in and out going up hill. Brand new batteries installed yesterday with no changes. Noticed today after checking speed sensor that someone installed a EZGO PDS motor and speed sensor on he cart. Has anyone ever heard of this being done before? Just want to verify this is my problem before ordering a new motor. Thanks JW2-105411 serial number of cart. |

I've done it, but it's not good (as I later learned), that motor is happiest at 42v, not 48v. It didnt last all that long, about a year, but I did throw it to the wolves (4-pass kit & high speed gears).

High speed gears are real hard on a stock motor for sure. My stock Hitachi motor only lasted four years in my 2012 cart that came with high speed gears. I replaced the motor with a D&D high torque motor - still running fine now. I'm still not a fan of the high speed gears.
