Default G1 shift point

Trying to move the shift point up on my g1. This will let my motor rev more in the mid range. Need someone who has experienced this. My clutch engages at 2100 and it starts shifting up immediately.

You want to raise the engagement rpm? To do that you have to modify the clutch. What clutch do you have?

Edit: I have done it. Not sure I'd recommend it though.

Slonomo i am using the clutch i bought from you. I needed to raise the engagement which i have now done. I want to raise the shift point. Into the 4000-5000 rpm range. The motor is heavily modified and spins freely to 7600 . Power comes on hard around 4300.i ordered the umax red spring. In addition i plan to dissassembe the secondary clutch clean and lubricate it.

Ah yes, thanks for reminding me.

The secondary controls the upshift speed. You might have to play around with the secondary spring. The umax is stiffer and longer than a stock G1. Maybe you need a little more spring tension? Also the ramp angle on the secondary makes a difference too. I used (and still do) the Plowman's secondary clutch kit. The ramps have a little steeper angle I believe.

Talk to Don Plowman. He has several versions of that spring that will work. He knows the spring tension rates etc. He also would know if his secondary clutch would help out or not. He also is a G1 guru and has tons of 2 cycle experience and knowledge. He might be able to help you get this dialed in.

I remember jetting was key with the Enticer 250 build I did. I never did get it perfect, but it got better each time I bumped up a jet. I went up 3 sizes and it ripped. I think I even needed a head gasket, but it was still good. I lost interest with that project because it didn't like to go slow lol. I needed it to go slow so my kids could drive it and so I could pull a mower. Those G1's were fast if you played with them.
