Default Yamaha oil leak

I just picked up a 2017 Yamaha gaser and there is oil all over the top of the motor. Also when cold it will go about 100 yards and fall on its face. I have to choke the hell out of it until it comes back to live and its fine after that. Any clues before I start tearing it apart.

The 2017 cars don't have any know issues with oil leaking.
Is the breather tube connected to the airbox?
The best thing to do is make sure that the engine doesn't have too much oil in it. Clean the engine with a degreaser and run it. Keep checking for oil leaks.

If the engine is over full then you might have a leaky needle in your carb causing the crankcase to fill with gas. This would also give you engine running issues.
It would be a good idea to take the carb apart and see if the bowl is full of crud. Give the carb/jets a good cleaning. If you go this far just change the needle while you are in there.
Check the fuel lines for cracks.

Found out the oil was leaking from the oil cap and previous owner over filled with oil. Now it still dies and lose power after cold starts and don't know why. After choking and slowly give it has had it finally comes to live. Why is this?

You need to take the carb apart and clean it. Make sure that you change the needle. Also check for cracked fuel lines or a plugged pulse line. The pulse line powers the fuel pump. It can get clogged at the elbow on top of the crankcase.

I had it full serviced and the shop clean the motor, they found no leaks. I got it back and oil is leaking I assume from the valve cover? Still runs like **** on cold starts and backfires every now and then.
