CC 88 DS Gas Rear Axle
Hi
Not sure if anyone can help, I've just fitted an Honda Gx340 engine into my cart. It took a bit of doing but sorted now, while doing the engine work I've replaced everything on the cart that was worn, the only thing left to do is check or change the transaxle oil. Has anybody got a clue as to were the drain is, or how to check the level and what sort of oil should be in it? Any help welcome Cheers Adie. |

Re: CC 88 DS Gas Rear Axle
Hey Adie,
I'm pretty sure your 88 is the same as my buddies 94, so here you go... There should be 2 units (upper and lower) to check, and change your fluid, a guy on "another" forum said to use 30W motor oil in the top unit, and 80W-90 gear lube in the lower unit, But, on my buddies cart, we used 80W-90 gear lube in both... (come to find out, they're pretty close to the same thing!) The top bolt is to check, and fill... and the bottom bolt is to drain the fluid... on both upper, and lower units here's a pic for a newer style (unitized) transaxle, but the idea is the same (X2) On the top case the bolts will be on the passenger side: And on the bottom case, the bolts will be on the drivers side: On an 88, I suggest changing (not just checking) the gear oil in both units! (especially, with that big engine you just put in!) from across the pond! Last edited by lockman1; 09-11-2016 at 06:20 AM.. |

Re: CC 88 DS Gas Rear Axle
Bringing back an old thread from the dead.
I have two gas CC DS, a 1990 & 1999 and want to change the rear fluid on both. So if I am reading correct the 90 has 2 resevoirs and the 99 only has 1. So I can use synthetic 80-90 in both resevoirs on the 90 DS? Are we sure? I know its dum but just making sure. |

Re: CC 88 DS Gas Rear Axle
yuppers 80 90 in both. you can also run 85 140 with no issues either. its personal choice on the syn. route though. i have 75 90 syn in mine
