i was just thinking that if you wired the state of charge meter with the key switch it would turn on and off with the key and not be on all the time.

I am pretty sure the key switch carries battery pack voltage.

You are correct. I also believe the wires he's referring to are put there by CC for an Upgrade of a Battery Meter, and are laying right in front of where the cutout is for that CC meter. I didn't use them for that, not exactly, but did use one for ground and took the "after key hot" which is pack voltage to my LED meter. My digital meter is wired to both of the wires mentioned as well as 12 volts off my light switch and is left on all the time.
