Battery Diagnosis - 2002 Club Car DS 48 volt
Hey guys,
I bought a $3.50 specific gravity tester for my batteries and measured the voltage. The results are below. Could someone tell me if I need to do anything? How long will these batteries last? The readings were all in the 'fair' range on the tester. Thanks, Kenny Battery 1 - 8.57 V Cell 1 - 1.250 Cell 2 - 1.250 Cell 3 - 1.250 Cell 4 - 1.250 Battery 2 - 8.58 V Cell 1 - 1.250 Cell 1 - 1.260 Cell 3 - 1.250 Cell 4 - 1.250 Battery 3 - 8.54 V Cell 1 - 1.225 Cell 2 - 1.240 Cell 3 - 1.248 Cell 4 - 1.248 Battery 4 - 8.53 V Cell 1 - 1.225 Cell 2 - 1.230 Cell 3 - 1.225 Cell 4 - 1.250 Battery 5 - 8.55 V Cell 1 - 1.250 Cell 2 - 1.262 Cell 3 - 1.245 Cell 4 - 1.250 Battery 6 - 8.56 V Cell 1 - 1.252 Cell 2 - 1.248 Cell 3 - 1.245 Cell 4 - 1.245 |

batteries fail in 2 ways:
Inability to take a charge and inability to hold a charge. Your batteries are taking a charge fine and with such good numbers, I would doubt if you have any kind of problem. |

Your specific gravity is just fine. Just monitor for a spread of more than .03 points. The only thing that is missing is the cell temperatures for a correction. As long as the cell temp is between 70 and 80 there is no need for a temperature correction.

Those readings look fine to me, with batts that are only 2 yrs old if you charge them after every use and maintain the water levels in them ( distilled water only), and keep the connections clean you should be able to get 3 or 4 more years out of them IMHO.
