Is this a candidate for the 36v motor theory

go ahead and do it. the 48volt makes the 2hp motor a 3.5 hp motor. I did this upgrade 4 years ago and have been very happy with it. The biggest problem I had was braking, the extra speed causes you to misjudge braking distance.

OK motor is on.

Took it for its maiden voyage (batteries were down to about 70% charge, due to previous riding) and all i can say is wow it flies.

Need to borrow my buddies GPS to see what speed its getting upto with full charge.

OK got some results from GPS

Before

Conditions

48v CC stock motor 3.1Hp
Flat Terrain (neighborhood road)
All Batteries fully charged 100%
190 lbs Drive (no passenger)

Hit max of 12 mph (that was only for a few seconds, steadily drove at 11 mph)

After

Conditions

36v CC stock motor 2 Hp
Flat Terrain (neighborhood road)
All Batteries fully charged 100%
190 lbs Drive (no passenger)

Hit max of 19 mph and stayed there

Second test with driver & passenger

Parameters same as above except total load for 2 people was 354 lbs

Hit max of 17 mph

My cart is a 2000 DS 48 volt, stock other than a 300 amp controller and 4 gauge welding cable upgrade. Batteries are a mish mash of 4 2007 T875, 1 US battery, 1 Sams Energizer Battery.

I'm sure if you had newer and matching batteries this would help a little more on speed.

Note one of my T875 is beginning to crap out.

Wilster734 will come up with some more accurate details with his 36 volt motor install.

Running like we predicted. Great to hear, are you satisfied with the result? what size tire are you running?
My post on this subject is running a litttle slow due to illness in family and not enough time to goof off now. Will hopefully soon get it all done and posted soon, but until then anyone wanting to do the swap, it is a no-brainer kinda thing, best bang for the buck like a shot of nitrous on a street rod.
